ADCB and EWS-WWF thank you for your donations towards protecting UAE’s few remaining freshwater reserves.
With your support, ADCB was able to facilitate a substantial donation of AED 62,286 for Emirates Wildlife Society in association with WWF (EWS-WWF) during September 2014, towards protecting our planet’s most precious commodity.
Only 2.5% of Earth’s water is freshwater and more than two-thirds of it is largely inaccessible. Since 2013, EWS-WWF has spearheaded the planning and implementation of Wadi Wurayah, UAE’s first National Park. Through Wadi Wurayah National Park, EWS-WWF aims to restore and sustainably manage this freshwater ecosystem and its precious resources, while continually expanding knowledge through research and learning programmes.
To put it in perspective, here are some examples of costs involved in running a research centre in the UAE:
- Production of educational materials costs AED 5,500.
- 1 water quality laboratory analysis costs AED 10,000.
- In-house IT requirements for running a research centre cost AED 44,000 per year.
ADCB customers and ATM users can continue their generous contributions to EWS-WWF’s work through any ADCB ATM in the UAE and via the online banking platform ADCB Personal Internet Banking.
