16 November 2011

ADCB supports cultural awareness as the world's leading art dealers representing both established artists and emerging talents showcase in Abu Dhabi.

Abu Dhabi, 16 November 2011: Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank ("ADCB") today announced it will be the principal sponsor of Abu Dhabi Art, one of the most prominent cultural events to take place in the Emirate. Abu Dhabi Art will be held at the Manarat Al Saadiyat in the Saadiyat Cultural District from 16th to 19th November. The Tourism Development & Investment Company ("TDIC") will be organising the event in partnership with Abu Dhabi Authority for Culture and Heritage (ADACH), Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority (ADTA) and sponsors including ADCB.

Abu Dhabi Art is an annual boutique platform to showcase modern and contemporary art, making culture available to the broader public while promoting the Emirate's contribution to the international art community. For the first time, and in an important strategic change, the event will be held in the Cultural District on Saadiyat Island, where the Manarat Al Saadiyat exhibition space hosts a growing number of visitors and future home to Louvre Abu Dhabi, Zayed National Museum and the Guggenheim Abu Dhabi.

Abu Dhabi Art has already become one of the most recognised international art destinations in the world, now a prominent feature on the international social and cultural calendar. Exhibitors of Abu Dhabi Art rank among the world's leading art dealers representing both established artists and emerging talents.

Martin Scott, Chief Marketing Officer at ADCB said: "ADCB is very pleased to be able to act as the principal sponsor to this event, revisiting a long-standing and successful partnership with TDIC. We are dedicated to supporting the communities we live and work in and this demonstrates just that, giving our full commitment to the importance of being a good corporate and cultural citizen.

"In-line with Long Live Ambition, we hope that ADCB's support will help open the doors to art connoisseurs and prominent collectors from across the world, while also giving our customers and business partners an opportunity to visit art galleries and exhibitions, promoting the passion for culture in the UAE."

As part of its sponsorship of Abu Dhabi Art, ADCB will be hosting an Art Competition for 3 local artists. Two original pieces of art from local artists will be displayed in the 'exhibition' style stand of ADCB at the entrance to Abu Dhabi Art. Art fair guests can come and vote on their favourite artist's work at the ADCB stand. The winner will be decided at the end of the Abu Dhabi Art fair, and given the opportunity to choose a local charity for ADCB to donate AED 20,000 to.

"As an incentive to encourage voting, we are creating a set of raffle prizes for voters to become eligible for and at the end of the Art fair we will draw the names of winning voters. There will be three prizes for the raffle draw, each supporting TDIC Saadiyat developments." Scott added.

The prizes will include:

  • 2 nights stay for 2 in a luxury, private Qasr Al Sarab Villa including one dinner for 2 and 2 spa treatments to the value of AED 500 each.
  • One night's stay for 2 in a standard room at the St. Regis Saadiyat Island Resort.
  • 2 day passes to the Monte-Carlo Beach Club, Saadiyat
