Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank Appoints First Woman to Board

  • Appointment of first woman to Board of Directors is in line with global best practices in corporate governance and in line with the guidance of the Government of Abu Dhabi
  • Demonstrates diversity at a senior level within the Bank

Abu Dhabi, 2 April 2013: Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank PJSC, (ADCB) announced today that it has appointed Mrs. Aysha Ahmed Sultan Al Hallami and Mr. Omar Liaqat to its Board of Directors.

Mr. Eissa Mohamed Ghanem Al Suwaidi, Chairman of the Board at ADCB, said; "The Board is delighted to announce the appointment of two new Board members: Mrs. Aysha Ahmed Sultan Al Hallami and Mr Omar Liaqat. Mrs Al Hallami is the first woman appointed to the Bank's board of directors. This is in line with our efforts to promote greater diversity at board level and it also corresponds with the government's efforts to empower Emirati women."

Mr. Salem Al Ameri and Mr. Jean-Paul Villain retired from the ADCB Board. Mr Al Suwaidi added, "I would also like to take this opportunity to thank the out-going board members for their dedication to ADCB during their tenure"

Mrs. Aysha Ahmed Sultan Al Hallami is a research Analyst at Abu Dhabi Investment Authority (ADIA). Mr. Omar Liaqat is the Chief Operating Officer at Abu Dhabi Investment Council.
