At ADCB Islamic Bank JSC, your security is our top priority. We remind you that protecting your personal data starts with your own vigilance. Please read the key tips below to help you stay safe from cyber fraud.
Common Fraud Schemes:
- Phishing Attacks:
Fraudsters disguise themselves as trusted sources and send emails containing malicious links or attachments. Their goal is to gain access to your personal data.
- Deepfake Technologies:
Fraudsters call from an unknown number to record your voice — just 30 seconds of conversation is enough to create a voice clone. They use artificial intelligence and deepfake technologies to mimic the speech or appearance of someone you know, in order to trick victims into revealing confidential information and/or persuading them to carry out fraudulent transactions.
- Malicious applications:
Cybercriminals create and manipulate mobile applications designed to compromise the user's device and personal information through the use of malware.
- Psychological pressure:
Fraudsters use various psychological manipulation techniques to force their victims to follow their instructions. They create a sense of urgency, threat, or panic to provoke impulsive actions.
Tips for recognizing and preventing fraud schemes:
- Do not click on suspicious links.
- Always use secure websites (https://) and look for the padlock icon.
- Use strong passwords and update them regularly.
- Do not perform financial operations at the request of third parties.
- Do not answer video calls from unknown numbers. If you do answer, stay calm and do not give in to psychological pressure — end the call and block the number. If the caller claims to be from a bank, immediately contact the bank’s hotline or customer service centre to verify.
- Verify the information. If someone close to you urgently asks for money, call them back personally to make sure it’s really them.
- Be cautious of suspicious offers. If you are offered “easy money” or invited to participate in dubious schemes, do not risk your finances and reputation.
- Never install remote access software if you are asked to do so by unknown individuals.
Remember: Vigilance is the best defence. Don’t give in to pressure and avoid making rushed decisions. If something seems suspicious — it probably is.
