ADCB has been recognized by Hawkamah, the Institute for Corporate Governance, for its leadership in corporate sustainability. In December 2017 ADCB was ranked 2nd place in the S&P/Hawkamah ESG Pan Arab Index (the "Index"), up from 3rd place in December 2016.

Each year the Index recognizes companies in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region who lead in the reporting of and implemention of practices in three key areas: environment, social and corporate governance (ESG) practices.

Historically, the Index shows that ESG-listed companies tended to outperform their competitors. Globally, ESG-indexed companies are increasingly attracting the attention of investors.
