ADCB and the Authority of Social Contribution - Ma’an sign a strategic partnership to contribute up to AED 25M in Abu Dhabi’s social initiatives

Abu Dhabi, 26 December 2024: Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank (ADCB) announced the signing of a strategic agreement with the Authority of Social Contribution - Ma’an aimed at augmenting ADCB’s community engagement through a series of social initiatives and programmes in key sectors including health, education, environment, and social well-being. This partnership reinforces the values of cooperation and community solidarity while addressing the social priorities of Abu Dhabi.

The signing ceremony was attended by H.E. Dr. Mugheer Khamis Al Khaili, Chairman of the Department of Community Development; H.E. Abdullah Humaid Al Ameri, Director General of the Authority of Social Contribution - Ma'an; Ala'a Eraiqat, Group Chief Executive Officer of ADCB, and senior management members from both parties.

The agreement outlines that ADCB is set to provide an estimated financial contribution of up to AED 25M over the next five years. During this period, the Authority will evaluate, manage and allocate the bank’s contribution towards social and environmental projects, aiming to achieve tangible impact. Through this framework, ADCB will rely on Ma’an’s accurate and reliable reports to assess the effectiveness of each initiative, ensuring a tangible and sustainable socioeconomic impact.

The partnership embodies the authority’s objective to enable organisations across Abu Dhabi to achieve their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and Sustainability Development Goals (SDG) while ensuring full allocation of funding to the specified social initiatives in Abu Dhabi. The Authority recognises these contributions through the Abu Dhabi Social Responsibility Label, a government-endorsed label demonstrating the corporates’ commitment to CSR.

This collaboration also aims to facilitate corporate volunteering and promote employee engagement in programmes and initiatives designed to benefit both individuals and the wider community. Through its community engagement programmes, the authority will operate to foster a sense of togetherness within the Abu Dhabi community and provide meaningful volunteering opportunities for ADCB employees, encouraging their participation in initiatives that create a lasting positive impact and promote a culture of social responsibility in the capital. The initiative underlines the private sector's role as a key partner in contributing to social priorities as part of their responsibilities towards their community.

Moreover, this partnership serves as an exemplary model of responsible governance and effective collaboration, ensuring that ADCB’s resources are channeled towards impactful social projects. Additionally, it extends the reach of the bank’s financial literacy programmes, empowering individuals to make prudent financial decisions by enhancing their financial knowledge and deepening the principles of responsible banking.
