Our work with the Mastercard Priceless Planet Coalition

Our subsidiary, Al Hilal Bank has joined Mastercard’s Priceless Planet Coalition to restore 100 million trees globally by 2025.

The Priceless Planet Coalition, in partnership with Emirates Nature / WWF, aims to restore 40,000 mangroves in the UAE, which has the largest mangrove coverage in the region – an area of over 150 km².

Mangroves can store up to four times more carbon than tropical forests, and their preservation is a key factor in the UAE’s ‘net zero by 2050’ strategic initiative to combat climate change.

Mastercard donates USD 5 for each Mastercard credit card issued by Al Hilal Bank towards preserving and restoring the country’s mangrove ecosystem.

Since its launch, the Priceless Planet Coalition has attracted more than 80 partners to help fund a restoration model focused on re-growing forests in geographies with great potential for a positive climate, community and biodiversity impact.
