Safe Deposit Locker

1. Who is eligible to rent a Safe Deposit locker “SDL”?

ADCB resident individual eligible customers can rent an SDL.

2. How do I open a Safe Deposit Locker and what are the documents required?

The SDL can be opened by visiting the nearest Safe Deposit Locker Facility SDL Designated branches during the banking hours.

The customer must carry original, valid Emirates ID or passport and valid debit or credit card for unassisted SDL. For the assisted SDL customer must carry original valid Emirates ID or passport.

Customer account should have sufficient funds to pay refundable deposit and the rental amount charges at the time of opening the SDL which will be debited from the account upon assigning the SDL to customer.

3. Which branches have the SDL facility?

4. How do I modify the mandate/cancel or add my operating Instruction for the Safe Deposit Locker?

You will need to complete the relevant forms at the branch where you have the locker facility, during working hours.

5. Can Safe Deposit Locker customer have a joint facility with a family member or authorize/appoint a non ADCB customer to operate his/her SDL?

Yes, the main custodian of the SDL who is an ADCB account holder can have joint facility with immediate family member(s)/POA.

All joint SDL authorized party must have a valid customer identification number(CID) with ADCB to operate SDL. The Safe Deposit Locker will be linked to the account of the main applicant of the SDL.

6. Can a minor operate the Safe Deposit locker?

A minor who is 16 years and above and for whom the account has been opened by the guardian may rent a Safe Deposit Locker under his/her name with the guardian’s consent. A minor can only operate SDL through its legal guardian subject to ADCB’s policy.

7. What are the timings to operate the assisted and unassisted Safe Deposit Locker?

Access to assisted SDL is available from Monday to Saturday during banking hours.

For the unassisted, the customers can access the SDL any time 24/7.

8. Is it possible to request for more than one locker?

Yes, subject to availability of the locker.

9. What are the Fees & Charges and payment details for renting a SDL?

Safe Deposit Locker rental amount is to be paid in advance annually based on the SDL type and size.

In the first year along with the rental amount, a security deposit between AED 10,000.00 & AED 1,000 according to customer's segmentation - will be collected at the time of availing the SDL facility.

Successively, on the anniversary date (i.e. the month and date the Safe Deposit Locker was first opened). The yearly rental amount will be automatically debited from the linked ADCB account subject to the availability of funds.

Please ensure that your account is sufficiently funded or it may result in the foreclosure of your SDL facility.

Upon surrendering the SDL and returning the SDL set of keys (2) and canceling the contract on the system the security deposit of AED 10,000.00 or AED 1,000 according to customer's segmentation will be refunded to the account linked with the SDL.

10. How do I change my inactive or invalid access card to the unassisted Safe Deposit Locker when Biometric identification fails? Are there any charges that would apply?

The customer needs to visit the branch during the working hours in AD Main Branch to reset the access to the SDL by providing a written signed request with valid ID and the original access card. There are no charges for resetting the password for automated SDL.

11. To whom should the case be reported to in case of items forgotten in the SDL room?

The customer must report the case to the Branch Transaction Service Manager, Customer Relationship Manager or Branch Manager.

The customer needs to ensure that no items are left behind in the SDL room.

12. How do I report if the Safe Deposit Locker key is lost?

Customer needs to provide the bank a written notification signed by all the SDL custodians or sign the Bank maintenance form informing the loss of the key, including authorization for the Bank to break open SDL and Customer must undertake to pay all charges claimed by the Vendor.

On a prefix date arrangement will be done with SDL holder(s) Technician (the “Vendor”) and ADCB officials to break open in the SDL in their presence and replace the lock.

13. What is the penalty to be paid in case of lost/broken SDL key?

If the Safe Deposit Locker keys are lost, then customer has to pay an amount of AED 1,050.00 (including 5% VAT) for the replacement of the lost keys.

14. How to discontinue the SDL facility?

The Safe Deposit Locker holders need to visit the branch where the customer has the SDL facility.

Surrender the two (2) Safe Deposit Locker keys along with a signed letter or SDL Maintenance Form addressed to the Branch Manager requesting to close the SDL facility.

The closing notification letter/Safe Deposit Locker Maintenance Form must be signed by the primary SDL holder.

The written and signed request should clearly state that the SDL has been vacated and all the belongings have been removed.

Two (2) staff members along with the customer will check the locker to ensure that no items are left behind and that the keys are working.

Important note:

If the SDL facility is discontinued before the completion of the contract period, the rental charge collected for the remaining months will NOT be refunded to the customer.

Customer should visit the branch one (1) week prior to the renewal date of the SDL facility and ensure adequate time to process the discontinuation request and avoid any auto renewal charges.

15. What will happen if no available balance in my account?

You will receive three (3) notices within 120 days to remind you of the rent overdue amount. If no payment is made within this period the access to the SDL will be restricted and ADCB will proceed with legal action to break open your SDL.
