Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

ADCB SecurePass

What is ‘ADCB SecurePass’ ?

ADCB SecurePass is a secure way of authenticating e-commerce transactions on ADCB Credit and Debit Cards via ADCB Mobile Banking App instead of SMS OTP.

Is there a change in the way I authenticate e-commerce transactions?

Yes. We are introducing secure authentication for e-commerce transactions via ADCB Mobile Banking App. Instead of an SMS OTP, you would receive a push notification on your registered mobile device to approve the transaction through your ADCB Mobile Banking App.

Why is this change important for me?

ADCB SecurePass brings stronger security, it is faster than OTPs via SMS and greater convenience:

  • Reduces fraud risks like phishing, OTP theft or social engineering and SIM-Swap.
  • No need to wait for SMS or enter codes manually.
  • Your biometrics is enough to authorize the purchase.
  • No requirement of a mobile carrier signal; all you’ll need is an internet connection.
How do I authenticate a 3D Secure e-commerce transaction via ADCB Mobile Banking App?
  • Once you initiate an e-commerce transaction at an online merchant with your ADCB Credit or Debit card, you will receive a push notification on your phone to take you to the ADCB Mobile Banking App (replacing SMS OTP).
  • Tap on the push notification to approve the online Credit or Debit Card transaction. If you don’t have push notifications enabled, you can go to ADCB Mobile Banking App Notifications section to authorise your transaction.
  • Verify your transaction by clicking on Approve or by your biometrics.
What do I need to do to move to the new ADCB SecurePass authentication method?

Follow the steps below to register your device and approve e-commerce transactions via ADCB Mobile Banking App:

  • Download and/or update ADCB Mobile Banking App
  • Ensure push notifications are enabled on your mobile device and in ADCB Mobile Banking App

What if I don’t receive the push notification?

Check your internet connection, ensure your ADCB Mobile Banking App is updated and notifications are enabled. If you did not receive push notification, you can still open the ADCB Mobile Banking App and click Notification bell icon to approve the transaction.

How will it work for my Supplementary card e-commerce transactions?

As a primary cardholder, if you are receiving SMS OTP for your supplementary card transactions, going forward you will receive it as ADCB mobile app push notification. If supplementary cardholder is receiving SMS OTPs on dedicated mobile number of supplementary cardholder, then your supplementary cardholder will continue to receive SMS OTP for your e-commerce transactions.
