Information about the new ADCB Chip and PIN Debit Card
As part of our commitment to provide you safe and secure banking services, we are pleased to introduce the new ADCB Debit Card, enabled with Chip and PIN technology. Your new Chip and PIN enabled ADCB Debit Card will replace your existing ADCB Debit Card.
The main difference between your old Debit Card and the new Chip and PIN Debit Card is that you will now use your PIN to make payments instead of signing a receipt.
Please note that your existing ATM PIN will remain the same and you can continue to use it in ATMs as usual.
The new chip securely stores confidential information making the transaction more secure. Just like a PIN is required for transacting at the ATM, PIN would be required to be keyed in to authorize a purchase / transaction at the sales counter/ Point of Sale.
The ADCB Chip and PIN Debit Card is a Debit/ ATM chip card offering you greater flexibility and payment convenience in your everyday life.
- It can be used as a payment card (instead of cash / cheques) and as an ATM card.
- When used as a payment card it debits the payment amount from your savings/current account for your day to day purchases of goods and services within and outside the UAE. The primary account will automatically get debited for the amount of the purchase.
- It also provides access to ATMs for cash withdrawals and other enquiries like any other Debit Card.
Use your ADCB Debit Card for paying for your groceries, shopping, dining, travel tickets, school fees or any other payments while continuing to take advantage of its numerous features and benefits.
The new ADCB Chip and PIN Debit Card works in the same way as your existing debit card. It is accepted at shops, restaurants and the majority of retail outlets in the U.A.E. and worldwide. While number of merchants will have the capability to insert your chip and PIN debit card into a point-of-sale terminal that reads information from the chip on the front of the card, some Merchant /retail outlets will continue to swipe your ADCB Chip Card at the Point Of Sale using information from the magnetic strip on the card, thereby requiring you to sign to authorize the transaction.
Yes, the PIN is the same for both the purchases at the Point of Sale (POS) as well as at the ATM
Yes, the new selected PIN will be applicable for both the purchases at the Point of Sale (POS) as well as at the ATM
The Chip and PIN facility is to help you safe guard the transaction and provide a more secure transaction facility. Failure to input the correct PIN may render the card not being eligible for further usage. Please remember your PIN.
